Magdalena Reiter is a Polish choreographer, dancer, and pedagogue based in Ljubljana. Her choreographic oeuvre spans solos, duets, and group works, developed through independent productions, commissions, and long-term collaborations across the European contemporary dance and performance field.
After completing her ballet training in Gdańsk, she continued her studies in Brussels, where she created her first choreographic works and began developing her own artistic language through performance and authorship. Over the years, she has explored the body as a site of perception, memory, and potential transformation, often performing in her own works while collaborating with artists from the fields of dance, theatre, and music.
Alongside her work for the dance field, she is also active as a choreographer for theatre productions, collaborating internationally with directors and dramaturgs in both institutional and independent contexts.
She was the founder and artistic director of Vibra – Festival & Dance Workshops in Ljubljana (2013–2020), an international platform dedicated to contemporary dance practices, artistic exchange, and education.
In recent years, her work has evolved toward the intersection of choreography and video. Through multimedia dance performances and installations, she investigates time-based structures and the unstable relationship between live presence and mediated image.
Her work has been presented internationally and recognised with several awards, including the Slovenian Ksenija Hribar Award for choreographic works (2021–2022), the Best Performance Award of the International Jury at the Slovene Dance Festival Gibanica, and the Best Performance Award at Teaterfest Sarajevo, among others.
